A male TikToker identified as Zain has been detained in Bahawalnagar after allegedly using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create an obscene fabricated video of a female social media rival and sharing it online. According to details included in a First Information Report (FIR) registered by Bahawalnagar Saddar police, the incident involved the creation and circulation of manipulated digital content that allegedly targeted a female TikToker operating in the area. Authorities stated that the case highlights increasing concerns surrounding the misuse of AI powered tools for harassment, defamation, and online abuse, particularly on social media platforms where visibility and audience engagement often influence rivalries among content creators.
As per police records, Zain, a resident of village 430/6R in Bahawalnagar, allegedly created the fake obscene video with assistance from an unidentified accomplice who remains untraced. Investigators said the manipulated content targeted a female TikToker who also operated a beauty salon in village 37/3R. According to the complaint filed with police, the alleged motive behind the incident stemmed from professional jealousy and competition related to online popularity. Police sources claimed that the accused admitted to uploading the fabricated video after becoming frustrated by the woman’s increasing social media engagement and higher viewership compared to his own content. Officials indicated that the case is being examined under relevant legal provisions concerning harassment, defamation, and digital misconduct.
The matter reportedly intensified when the female content creator confronted Zain regarding the circulation of the video. According to information contained in the FIR, he allegedly responded with abusive language and issued death threats against her, escalating tensions between the two individuals. The incident has raised broader concerns regarding online safety and the misuse of AI generated content to target individuals through manipulated visuals commonly referred to as deepfakes. Experts have increasingly warned that accessible AI tools are making it easier for harmful content to be created and distributed, creating legal and ethical challenges for authorities attempting to regulate digital abuse and protect victims of online targeting.
Following the complaint, Bahawalnagar Saddar police initiated legal proceedings and launched an investigation into the case while continuing efforts to identify and trace the unidentified accomplice allegedly involved in producing the fabricated content. Authorities stated that inquiries are underway to determine the extent of involvement of all parties connected to the incident and whether additional digital evidence exists. The case has also renewed discussions about responsible use of Artificial Intelligence technologies and the risks associated with digitally manipulated media, particularly when used to damage reputations or intimidate individuals through online platforms. As social media continues to expand its influence, incidents involving AI generated misinformation and fabricated content are increasingly drawing attention from law enforcement agencies and digital rights observers in Pakistan.
