NCCIA Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mahboob Elahi conducted a cyber awareness session at NES to educate students and teachers about online safety, responsible social media use, and ways to protect children from cyber threats. The session was organized under the supervision of NCCIA Headquarters Islamabad as part of the agency’s efforts to promote digital safety awareness among school communities. The initiative focused on helping students understand potential risks associated with online activities and encouraging safer practices while using digital platforms.
During the awareness session, students and teachers were briefed about the positive and responsible use of social media, precautions required during online interactions, and measures that can help prevent cyber-related risks. NCCIA officials highlighted the importance of remaining careful while engaging with unknown individuals on digital platforms and explained how online interactions can sometimes create security concerns. Students were specifically advised to remain alert when receiving messages or connection requests from unfamiliar people, particularly individuals who may attempt to build trust before engaging in inappropriate conversations, harassment, or blackmailing. The session aimed to provide students with practical guidance on identifying unsafe situations and responding appropriately when facing uncomfortable online experiences.
Students were also encouraged not to remain silent or feel afraid if they encounter cyber harassment or suspicious online activities. NCCIA officials advised children to immediately inform their parents, teachers, or another trusted adult whenever they experience such situations. The awareness session also emphasized the importance of protecting personal information and avoiding the sharing of private details, personal photographs, or sensitive material with unknown online contacts. Officials explained that maintaining privacy and practicing caution while communicating online are important steps in reducing exposure to potential digital risks. Teachers were also engaged during the session to help them better understand online safety challenges faced by students and support children in adopting responsible digital habits.
NCCIA officials further guided students on preserving relevant evidence in cases involving online harassment or blackmailing so that appropriate action can be taken through relevant channels. Students were advised to keep records of concerning digital interactions instead of deleting important information that may help authorities review complaints. The session is part of NCCIA’s broader efforts to increase awareness about cyber safety and help young users recognize and respond to online threats. Through such educational initiatives, NCCIA continues to encourage safer internet practices among students and communities while promoting responsible use of digital platforms. The agency aims to strengthen public awareness around cybersecurity by providing guidance that helps individuals, especially children, navigate online spaces with greater caution and confidence.
