Learning Resource Centre (LRC), in collaboration with Risk Associates, has announced another batch of its specialized workshop titled “PCI DSS Application Security and its Governance under PCI DSS for Banks and PSPs,” aimed at strengthening knowledge around payment security, regulatory compliance, and application governance for professionals operating in the banking and financial technology sectors. The workshop follows the successful completion of its first batch, which organizers stated received positive feedback from participants seeking practical understanding of evolving payment security frameworks and cybersecurity requirements. Scheduled to take place on July 23, 2026, at Mövenpick Hotel Karachi, the training program is designed to address increasing demand for secure payment application practices in Pakistan’s rapidly expanding digital payments ecosystem.

The workshop is focused on PCI DSS v4.0.1 requirements, application security governance, Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC), payment application controls, and broader compliance obligations relevant to banks and Payment Service Providers (PSPs). According to organizers, participants will receive practical insights into the Payment Card Security Framework and regulatory expectations established by State Bank of Pakistan regarding payment security and cybersecurity governance. The program is intended to help organizations understand how secure software development, governance structures, and compliance practices can strengthen payment application environments across development, testing, and production systems. Organizers noted that maintaining audit readiness and adapting to changing payment brand expectations are becoming increasingly important for organizations operating in digitally connected financial environments.

The training workshop will be led by cybersecurity and governance professionals from Risk Associates, including Raheel Iqbal, Director Governance, Risk and Compliance for EMEA and Asia Associates, Ishaq Paracha, Senior Manager Governance, Risk and Compliance, Rehan Ali, Manager Offensive Security, and Muhammad Saleem, Penetration Tester in Offensive Security. Sessions are expected to combine industry best practices with implementation focused guidance to help participants improve payment security governance, understand risk accountability, and strengthen cybersecurity controls related to payment systems. The curriculum will also address secure coding, application testing, deployment practices, compliance management, and methods for identifying and managing cybersecurity risks in payment environments.

The program is targeted toward professionals working in application security, product security, software development, DevOps, secure SDLC implementation, governance, risk and compliance, information security, internal audit, digital banking, and technology leadership functions. Engineering managers, product owners, payment systems teams, and IT risk managers responsible for application governance are also expected to benefit from the training.
