Mastercard announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Recorded Future, a leading global threat intelligence company, from Insight Partners for $2.65 billion. This strategic acquisition aims to enhance Mastercard’s cybersecurity capabilities and provide deeper insights into emerging threats.

Recorded Future, known for its extensive threat intelligence database, serves over 1,900 clients across 75 countries, including governments and Fortune 100 companies. The company’s real-time threat detection and analysis capabilities, powered by AI, will complement Mastercard’s existing identity, fraud prevention, and cybersecurity services.

“Trust is paramount in today’s digital world,” said Craig Vosburg, chief services officer at Mastercard. “By combining our expertise with Recorded Future’s, we can proactively address emerging threats and deliver greater peace of mind to our customers.”

The acquisition will enable Mastercard to offer more comprehensive threat intelligence solutions to its network of merchants and financial institutions. Through joint AI initiatives, both companies aim to develop even more robust cybersecurity practices and strengthen Mastercard’s brand as a trusted partner.

“Joining Mastercard is a significant step forward in our mission to secure the world with intelligence,” said Christopher Ahlberg, CEO of Recorded Future. “Together, we can empower businesses and governments to make informed decisions and mitigate risks.”

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025, subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.
