Pakistan’s power sector has taken a step forward in strengthening operational technology security with the deployment of Nozomi Networks Guardian at a leading power generation facility. The implementation was carried out by Phitech Solutions, bringing advanced visibility and threat detection capabilities to critical infrastructure that plays a central role in maintaining the country’s energy supply. The deployment reflects growing attention toward safeguarding industrial environments that are increasingly exposed to cyber risks.
The Guardian platform has been implemented as a passive and non intrusive solution, ensuring that existing operations continue without interruption. It provides comprehensive network visibility and continuous monitoring across essential systems within the plant, including distributed control system servers, controllers, engineering workstations, operator workstations, and human machine interfaces. This level of monitoring enables operators to maintain awareness of all connected assets while preserving the stability of live industrial processes. The deployment also delivers real time anomaly detection supported by threat intelligence, allowing for early identification of unusual activity without interfering with operational workflows.
In addition to monitoring capabilities, the solution offers deep asset inventory across the plant’s operational technology environment. This allows for a detailed understanding of devices, communication patterns, and system dependencies within the infrastructure. Such visibility is increasingly important as industrial networks become more complex and interconnected. By maintaining a clear inventory and monitoring framework, organizations can reduce blind spots and strengthen their ability to respond to potential threats. The deployment has been completed with zero disruption to operations, ensuring that security improvements do not come at the cost of reliability or performance in a sector where uptime is critical.
The initiative comes at a time when power generation infrastructure in Pakistan is facing increased attention from sophisticated threat actors. As industrial control systems become more digitized, they also become more attractive targets for cyber activity. Strengthening defenses within operational technology environments is becoming a key priority for organizations responsible for maintaining essential services. Phitech Solutions emphasized its commitment to securing such environments and highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving this objective.
The deployment was supported by Nozomi Networks, with contributions from Bachir Moussa, Alexander Foroozandé, and Mohamed Magdy. The project also aligns with broader efforts to strengthen national infrastructure protection, with Phitech Solutions acknowledging the role of organizations such as NEPRA, National CERT, and Independent System and Market Operator in advancing cybersecurity readiness across the country.
