National CERT Cyber Care for Children Program Engages Students at Dr. AQ Khan School Islamabad

National CERT continued its mission to promote cybersecurity awareness among youth by conducting a Cyber Care for Children (CCC) session at Dr. AQ Khan School & College System, Bahria Town, Phase 8, Islamabad. The session aimed to educate students on the principles of digital hygiene, safe online practices, and responsible engagement with social media and internet platforms. Led by Khurram Javed, Director Capacity Building at National CERT, the session combined interactive presentations with real-life examples to ensure students understood the importance of protecting personal information and recognizing potential cyber threats.

During the session, Khurram Javed emphasized responsible online behavior and provided practical guidance on maintaining privacy and security in digital spaces. The discussion included critical topics such as identifying phishing attempts, avoiding risky online interactions, and managing passwords securely. A special focus was placed on cyberbullying and online harassment, with students learning to identify harmful behavior, respond responsibly, and seek support from trusted adults. The program highlighted that digital environments should be safe, empowering, and inclusive, with every student contributing to their own security and that of their peers.

The CCC session encouraged active participation from students, who engaged enthusiastically by sharing experiences, asking questions, and seeking advice on managing challenges in real-life digital interactions. Their curiosity and involvement demonstrated the growing need for structured cybersecurity education within schools, as students increasingly navigate online platforms for both learning and social activities. The interactive nature of the session helped students internalize the lessons and equipped them with actionable strategies to protect themselves online.

National CERT’s Cyber Care for Children Program forms a critical part of its broader Cybersecurity Capacity Building initiatives, designed to strengthen digital literacy and resilience among students, educators, and parents across Pakistan. Future sessions are planned at multiple schools and colleges nationwide, reinforcing National CERT’s commitment to preparing the next generation for emerging cybersecurity challenges. By promoting awareness and providing the necessary tools to recognize and mitigate cyber risks, the program aims to create a safer and more secure digital ecosystem for Pakistan’s youth, helping them become informed and responsible digital citizens.
