The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) and the Center of Pakistan and International Relations (COPAIR Islamabad) have entered into a strategic partnership to fortify Pakistan’s cybersecurity landscape. The two organizations formalized their collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at National CERT’s headquarters in Islamabad. The agreement was signed by Dr. Haider Abbas, Director General of National CERT, and Dr. Amna Munawwar Awan, President of COPAIR.
This partnership is focused on addressing the complex and evolving nature of cyber threats by utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Computing to bolster cyber intelligence capabilities. The collaboration aims to enhance Pakistan’s ability to detect, respond to, and mitigate cyber risks, ensuring a more robust and secure digital environment.
One of the flagship initiatives of the partnership is the development of Cyber Security Scouts, who will be trained in Digital Media Literacy. This program aims to empower the next generation with critical cybersecurity knowledge and skills, preparing them to navigate and safeguard the digital world. Furthermore, both organizations will collaborate on producing educational materials and publications to raise awareness about cybersecurity, with a special focus on children and youth.
Additionally, the MoU includes the creation of a Dialogue Forum to facilitate ongoing discussions around cybersecurity policies, emerging digital threats, and regulatory frameworks. This forum will provide a platform for key stakeholders, including policymakers and industry experts, to exchange insights and drive forward-thinking solutions.
This partnership represents a significant step forward in securing Pakistan’s digital infrastructure and fostering resilience in the face of increasing cyber threats, positioning the country to proactively defend its digital future.
