NCSA Student Delivers Cyber Security Awareness Session At SZABIST Islamabad

The National Cyber Security Academy (NCSA), Air University, has highlighted the participation of its student, Syed Qalb e Abbas, as a guest speaker at SZABIST University Islamabad, H 8 Campus, where he conducted an interactive workshop titled “Cyber Security Awareness and Cyber Hygiene: Small Habits, Big Defense.” The session brought together participants from different academic and professional backgrounds to discuss practical approaches to strengthening cybersecurity awareness and improving everyday digital safety practices. The initiative reflected NCSA’s continued efforts to encourage knowledge sharing and support cybersecurity education beyond its own campus.

The workshop focused on the growing importance of cybersecurity in daily life and the need for individuals across all professions to understand the basics of protecting digital information. While cybersecurity is often associated with technical specialists, the session emphasized that employees, students, educators, and professionals from non technical fields also play an important role in reducing cyber risks. Participants learned how common online threats can affect individuals and organizations and how simple cyber hygiene habits can significantly reduce exposure to those risks. Practical discussions covered safe password practices, recognizing suspicious online activity, protecting personal devices, exercising caution while opening emails and links, and maintaining awareness while using digital platforms. The session highlighted that developing these habits can strengthen personal security while also contributing to the protection of organizational information and digital assets.

Throughout the workshop, Syed Qalb e Abbas engaged participants through interactive discussions designed to make cybersecurity concepts easier to understand and apply in everyday situations. Rather than focusing on highly technical subjects, the session encouraged attendees to adopt practical measures that can be incorporated into their regular digital activities. The workshop reinforced that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility and that consistent cyber hygiene practices can serve as an effective first line of defense against many common digital threats. By presenting real world examples and encouraging active participation, the session aimed to increase awareness of how individual actions can contribute to a safer digital environment for both personal and professional use.

NCSA stated that it remains committed to promoting cybersecurity education by encouraging students to actively contribute to awareness initiatives and community engagement activities. The academy views student participation in educational outreach programs as an important part of developing future cybersecurity professionals while also strengthening digital responsibility across society. By supporting opportunities for students to share their knowledge with wider audiences, NCSA continues to promote cyber awareness and responsible digital practices among educational institutions and the broader community. The workshop at SZABIST Islamabad reflects these ongoing efforts to expand cybersecurity awareness, encourage informed digital behavior, and help build a more cyber aware society through education and collaboration.
