National CERT Conducts Third Session Of Executive Cybersecurity Leadership Program On Cyber Risk Management And Strategic Decision Support

National Cyber Emergency Response Team of Pakistan, National CERT, has conducted the third session of its Executive Cybersecurity Leadership Program at its headquarters in Islamabad, continuing its structured initiative aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s cybersecurity posture through executive level engagement, strategic leadership development, and institutional collaboration. The program brings together senior leadership representatives from ministries, regulatory bodies, academia, and both public and private sector organizations, with the objective of enhancing understanding of cybersecurity governance and improving decision making frameworks at the leadership level.

The third session of the program featured expert instruction by Adli Wahid, Senior Internet Security Specialist at APNIC, Australia, who shared regional and international insights on strengthening cyber resilience and improving collaborative security practices across the Asia Pacific region. The session focused on fostering trusted cooperation among stakeholders while enhancing practical cybersecurity capabilities required to address evolving digital threats. Participants engaged in interactive discussions that explored modern approaches to cybersecurity leadership and the importance of aligning organizational preparedness with broader national resilience objectives.

Key areas addressed during the session included cyber risk assessment and prioritization methodologies, integration of cyber risk into enterprise risk management frameworks, and the development of structured approaches for cybersecurity investment planning. The session also covered the importance of budgeting and justifying cybersecurity expenditures in organizational environments, ensuring that leadership teams are equipped to make informed financial and operational decisions regarding security investments. In addition, participants explored the design and use of performance metrics and reporting dashboards aimed at supporting better visibility and accountability in cybersecurity governance structures.

National CERT emphasized that aligning cybersecurity strategies with organizational objectives and national priorities remains an essential component of building a resilient digital ecosystem. The discussions reinforced the importance of embedding cybersecurity considerations into broader decision making processes, particularly in relation to risk governance and institutional planning. By equipping executive leadership with strategic tools and practical knowledge, the program aims to strengthen the overall capacity of organizations to respond effectively to emerging cyber threats.
