National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) successfully conducted a focused cybersecurity capacity-building program for officers of National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC), aimed at strengthening organizational resilience against cyber threats. The training, centered on Risk-Informed Security Readiness for Cyber Threat Resilience, was developed in accordance with National CERT’s training guidelines to address the needs of a diverse group of participants, including senior executives, managerial staff, and technical and operational personnel. By encompassing strategic, managerial, and technical aspects, the program provided participants with a holistic understanding of cybersecurity risks and organizational preparedness.
The session was led by Khurram Javed, Director Capacity Building at National CERT, who shared expert guidance on identifying and mitigating cyber risks at both individual and organizational levels. Emphasis was placed on building an effective risk management framework to enhance cyber threat resilience across NTC operations. Attendees engaged in scenario-based discussions, exploring real-world cyber threats and assessing organizational risk posture. The interactive format encouraged knowledge sharing and practical insights, enabling participants to gain a nuanced understanding of potential vulnerabilities and corresponding mitigation strategies.
Officials from NTC headquarters attended the training in person, while representatives from NTC regional centers participated online, ensuring engagement from across the country. The program fostered meaningful dialogue on cybersecurity preparedness, providing participants with actionable approaches to strengthen defenses against evolving cyber threats. Discussions addressed risk prioritization, proactive response planning, and the establishment of organizational processes to enhance resilience. By integrating strategic, managerial, and technical perspectives, the training aimed to empower NTC officers with the skills needed to manage cyber risks effectively.
