National CERT Strengthens Cybersecurity Readiness of National Assembly Officers with Specialized Training

As part of its ongoing Cybersecurity Capacity Building Program, Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) conducted a specialized training session for officers of the National Assembly Secretariat. The training, titled Cybersecurity Essentials: Awareness, Data Protection, Privacy, and Best Practices, was held at the National CERT Headquarters in Islamabad and aimed at enhancing the cybersecurity preparedness of government officials.

The session was led by Mr. Khurram Javed, Director Capacity Building at National CERT, and focused on equipping participants with critical cybersecurity knowledge and skills to mitigate cyber risks. Attendees received hands-on training on key cybersecurity concepts, including cyber hygiene, phishing awareness, secure communication practices, and strategies for data privacy and protection. The session also covered compliance with cybersecurity regulations, ensuring that government officials are better prepared to safeguard sensitive national data.

Participants actively engaged in the discussions, raising insightful queries and interacting with the trainer to gain a deeper understanding of emerging cyber threats and response strategies. Real-world case studies were also presented to provide practical insights into tackling cybersecurity challenges in a professional setting. The enthusiastic participation of the National Assembly officers reflected the increasing recognition of cybersecurity’s importance within public sector institutions.

This initiative underscores National CERT’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s cyber resilience. By empowering government officials with essential cybersecurity skills, the organization is playing a crucial role in fortifying the country’s digital defenses. As cyber threats continue to evolve, National CERT remains dedicated to fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness and ensuring that public sector entities are well-equipped to counter digital risks effectively.
