Director General of National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) Pakistan, Dr. Haider Abbas, TI, delivered a keynote address at Huawei Global Cybersecurity Forum held in Shanghai, China. The event brought together cybersecurity professionals, technology leaders, and industry experts from around the world to discuss emerging security challenges and approaches for strengthening digital resilience. During the forum, Dr. Haider Abbas shared insights on the transition from traditional reactive cybersecurity practices toward proactive, intelligence driven, and AI assisted cyber resilience strategies. His participation provided an opportunity to highlight Pakistan’s evolving cybersecurity initiatives and the role of National CERT in supporting stronger protection mechanisms for organizations and critical digital infrastructure.
In his keynote session titled around the shift from reactive patching to threat informed, AI assisted cyber resilience, Dr. Haider Abbas emphasized the importance of adopting modern cybersecurity approaches that focus on prevention, intelligence, and continuous improvement. He highlighted that organizations today require security frameworks capable of responding to a rapidly changing threat environment, where traditional methods alone may not be sufficient to address emerging risks. The discussion focused on the growing role of threat intelligence, artificial intelligence enabled cyber defense capabilities, and continuous vulnerability management in improving an organization’s ability to identify, understand, and respond to security challenges. These approaches allow security teams to move beyond responding after incidents occur and develop more proactive strategies for strengthening overall cyber preparedness.
The keynote also covered the importance of coordinated national response mechanisms in protecting critical digital infrastructure and enhancing cybersecurity capabilities at a broader level. Dr. Haider Abbas discussed how collaboration between government bodies, technology organizations, and cybersecurity stakeholders plays an important role in developing resilient digital ecosystems. As cyber threats continue to evolve with increasing complexity, effective information sharing, intelligence gathering, and coordinated response frameworks have become essential components of modern cybersecurity strategies.
