National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) has officially commenced the CyberSecureGov Phase II regional workshop series with a two day hands on training program on Compliance Readiness and the Implementation of the Pakistan Information Security Framework (PISF 2026) at its headquarters in Islamabad. The initiative is designed to strengthen cybersecurity compliance and implementation capabilities across government institutions while building on the progress achieved during Phase I of the CyberSecureGov program. Through this effort, National CERT aims to enhance institutional preparedness and promote the consistent adoption of information security standards across Pakistan’s public sector.
The workshop brought together technical professionals and representatives from Sectoral CERTs along with several key national organizations, including National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC), National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), PTA, National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), NECOP, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC), NTISB, and Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority Karachi (PCAA). During the two day program, National CERT subject matter experts delivered detailed technical sessions covering the practical implementation of PISF 2026 and the compliance measures required to strengthen institutional cybersecurity. The event also served as a collaborative platform where participants exchanged technical knowledge, discussed implementation challenges, and strengthened coordination among government entities responsible for protecting critical digital infrastructure and information assets.
A major focus of the workshop was to provide participants with practical knowledge that supports the effective adoption of the Pakistan Information Security Framework. The training included technical discussions, interactive learning activities, and table top exercises designed to improve cybersecurity readiness within public sector organizations. Participants received guidance on the PISF implementation roadmap, information security governance, cybersecurity risk management requirements, essential security controls, and organizational measures that can improve information security practices. By combining technical instruction with practical exercises, the workshop enabled attendees to better understand the framework’s requirements while encouraging greater consistency in cybersecurity planning and compliance across participating institutions.
The successful completion of the first Phase II workshop reflects National CERT’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s national cybersecurity capabilities through institutional capacity building, technical collaboration, and the promotion of standardized information security practices. The organization stated that additional regional workshops will continue as part of its broader nationwide outreach program to support government institutions in implementing PISF 2026 effectively. These engagements are intended to improve cybersecurity readiness, encourage greater cooperation among public sector organizations, and reinforce the adoption of consistent security governance practices that contribute to a secure, resilient, and trusted digital ecosystem across Pakistan.
