BIEK Warns Students Against Fake Result Website And Online Fraud Scheme

The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has issued a warning after a fake website allegedly impersonating the education board was used to target students with fraudulent offers related to examination results. The unauthorized platform reportedly claimed that students could get their examination papers cleared or results changed by paying Rs10,000 per subject. The matter raised concerns among students and parents as the fake website attempted to misuse BIEK’s identity and create confusion regarding official examination-related services.

According to reports, the alleged scam came to attention after a fake results website appeared in Google search results and directed visitors toward a WhatsApp helpline for further communication. Through the messaging platform, individuals operating the helpline reportedly offered students the option to modify or clear examination results in exchange for payment. The operators allegedly presented themselves as BIEK employees and asked students to transfer money into private bank accounts. They reportedly assured students that their examination results would be updated within 24 hours after payment was completed. The fake platform was later taken offline, reportedly under the explanation of maintenance, after allegedly collecting significant amounts of money from students. Authorities and education officials are reviewing the matter to understand the scope of the activity and prevent further misuse of online platforms.

BIEK Chairman Faqir Muhammad Lakho has denied any association between the board and the fraudulent website, stating that the education authority has no involvement with such offers or services. He advised students to rely only on the official BIEK website and verified communication channels for examination information, results, and other related updates. Lakho also stated that the board had repeatedly informed the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) about the fake website and had submitted a formal request to relevant authorities seeking action against those responsible for creating and operating the unauthorized platform. The board emphasized that no legitimate process exists through which examination results can be changed or improved through private payments or unofficial contacts.

Officials from BIEK have urged students and parents to remain cautious while using online services and avoid sharing personal information or making payments to unverified sources. They advised the public to confirm examination-related announcements through official platforms and avoid relying on websites, WhatsApp numbers, or individuals claiming to provide special assistance in exchange for money. The incident highlights the importance of digital awareness and careful verification when accessing online educational services, particularly as fraudulent platforms can use familiar names and branding to appear legitimate. BIEK has encouraged students to report suspicious websites or communications to relevant authorities so that appropriate measures can be taken to protect individuals from online fraud and misuse of official information.
