NCCIA Probes Alleged Online Network Linked To Child Safety Violations

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has launched investigations into an alleged international network linked to the creation, sharing and distribution of illicit child related digital material through online platforms. The agency stated that investigations uncovered digital links involving multiple locations, online channels and individuals, while further action is continuing to identify additional connections and examine recovered evidence.

According to NCCIA officials, Islamabad investigators identified an alleged network in which an individual was reportedly involved in creating and sharing illicit digital material involving minors. NCCIA Additional Director Mohammad Shoaib Khan stated that the investigation involved digital platforms where such material was allegedly exchanged through private online groups and cryptocurrency-based transactions. Officials said the investigation received support through international coordination, while evidence and related information were traced from locations including Islamabad, Multan and South Punjab. Further investigative efforts are underway to identify other individuals allegedly connected with the network. The NCCIA official stated that investigators also examined a case involving an alleged individual from Skardu who was identified during the inquiry. According to officials, digital evidence was recovered and additional links were found during the investigation process. The agency said further actions are being taken based on the available information, while forensic examination of recovered devices is continuing. NCCIA has emphasized that investigations involving online activities require detailed technical analysis to verify evidence and establish the role of individuals involved.

Separately, NCCIA Karachi Zone conducted an operation against three firms in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi, over allegations related to the production, promotion and online sale of illicit digital material and harmful online content. Officials stated that individuals connected with the firms were presented before a judicial magistrate, where NCCIA requested additional custody for investigation. The agency informed the court that mobile phones had been recovered and required technical examination and forensic review. The court granted four-day physical custody and directed officials to provide further updates during the next hearing. NCCIA officials stated that during the Karachi operation, several individuals including company representatives and employees were taken into custody, while multiple mobile devices were collected for examination. Preliminary findings indicated that the firms were allegedly using online teams to communicate with international customers through platforms including Instagram and X. Investigators stated that multiple accounts using different identities and profiles were allegedly created to attract users and facilitate online activities.

The agency has also highlighted concerns regarding online safety and the protection of children from harmful digital activities. NCCIA officials stated that monitoring of online platforms, timely complaint handling and cooperation with relevant organizations are important elements in addressing cyber-related concerns. The agency has encouraged users and families to remain aware of online risks and report suspicious activities through official channels. NCCIA Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has directed officials to strengthen monitoring of digital platforms, improve complaint response mechanisms and enhance coordination between departments. The agency stated that protecting citizens, particularly vulnerable users, remains a priority as digital platforms continue to expand.

Officials have advised social media users to remain cautious while sharing personal information online and avoid providing account credentials, financial details or private information to unknown individuals. NCCIA has also encouraged citizens facing cyber-related concerns to contact its complaint channels, including the 1799 helpline. The investigations highlight the growing importance of cybersecurity awareness, digital responsibility and stronger online protection measures. Through technical investigations, forensic analysis and collaboration with relevant partners, NCCIA continues efforts to address cyber-related activities and support a safer digital environment in Pakistan.
