National Cyber Security Academy (NCSA) and National Centre for Cyber Security (NCCS) at Air University Islamabad welcomed a delegation of students and faculty members from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) for an academic visit focused on cybersecurity education, operational practices, and research collaboration. The visit provided participants with an opportunity to explore Air University cybersecurity ecosystem and gain first hand exposure to the facilities, technologies, and initiatives supporting cybersecurity education and research in Pakistan. It also served as a platform for interaction between faculty members, researchers, and students from both institutions, encouraging the exchange of ideas and strengthening academic engagement.
A key highlight of the visit was the delegation tour of various NCSA and NCCS facilities, including the Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC). During the visit to the operations center, participants received an overview of the university cybersecurity infrastructure, research initiatives, and operational capabilities that support cybersecurity monitoring, analysis, and academic learning. The delegation was introduced to the role of the Cyber Security Operations Center in providing students and researchers with practical exposure to cybersecurity operations while supporting research activities conducted within Air University. Through demonstrations and discussions, the visitors gained insights into how operational environments can be integrated with academic programs to enhance technical skills and prepare students for the evolving cybersecurity landscape. The visit also highlighted the importance of combining research, technology, and operational experience to strengthen cybersecurity capabilities and support the development of skilled professionals for the industry.
The academic program included presentations by Prof. Dr. Zunera Jalil, Dean of National Cyber Security Academy, and Prof. Dr. Ghalib Shah, Director of National Centre for Cyber Security. During their presentations, both speakers outlined the vision of NCSA and NCCS while discussing the institutions academic programs, research achievements, and contributions toward advancing cybersecurity education, innovation, and capacity building in Pakistan. The sessions provided an overview of ongoing research activities and emphasized the role of Air University in developing cybersecurity talent through education, collaborative research, and practical learning opportunities. Participants also learned about the institutions efforts to support national cybersecurity priorities by promoting innovation, encouraging academic excellence, and creating opportunities for collaboration between universities and the broader cybersecurity community.
