DarkTrace Academy of Emerging Technology, in collaboration with the AIC ACM Student Chapter at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), successfully organized an Azadi Special Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking Orientation Workshop aimed at increasing cybersecurity awareness among students. The event focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of cybersecurity concepts, ethical hacking practices, and cyber scam awareness through practical discussions and interactive learning sessions. The workshop encouraged students to develop a stronger understanding of online threats while learning practical approaches to improve their digital safety. By bringing together cybersecurity professionals, faculty members, student leaders, and volunteers, the initiative highlighted the growing importance of cybersecurity education in academic institutions and the need to prepare students for an increasingly digital environment where cyber risks continue to evolve.
The orientation workshop featured Ashbal Khanzada as the keynote speaker, who delivered detailed sessions covering cybersecurity fundamentals, ethical hacking concepts, and methods for recognizing common online scams. During the interactive session, participants received practical guidance on identifying cyber threats, understanding how online scams operate, and adopting safer digital practices while using internet based services and online platforms. The discussions also emphasized responsible cybersecurity practices and encouraged students to explore cybersecurity as both an academic discipline and a professional career path. Rather than focusing only on theoretical concepts, the workshop provided practical awareness designed to help students better understand the risks associated with digital communication, online accounts, and internet usage. Participants actively engaged throughout the session, creating an environment that supported discussion, learning, and greater awareness of cybersecurity challenges faced by individuals and organizations.
The event was organized with the support of the AIC ACM Student Chapter leadership, faculty members, and institutional representatives. Faculty Advisor Dr. Adnan Ashraf was acknowledged for providing guidance and continued support throughout the planning and execution of the workshop, while Patron in Chief Dr. Sanam Narejo was recognized for encouraging and supporting the initiative.
