National CERT Pakistan has approved a Capture The Flag CTF challenge titled “The Cloud Bill YoYo” for inclusion in its Learning Management System LMS, marking a notable step in advancing cybersecurity education and practical skill development across the country. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s digital ecosystem by integrating hands on learning modules into national training platforms, enabling learners to engage with real world cybersecurity scenarios in a structured environment.
The approved challenge has been developed by Sharique Baig and Maira Aijaz, with co supervision provided by Dr. Mian Muhammad Waseem Iqbal. The development process combined technical expertise with academic guidance to create a learning experience that aligns with industry requirements and evolving threat landscapes. By incorporating such challenges into its LMS, National CERT Pakistan aims to enhance the technical capabilities of cybersecurity professionals and students, providing them with opportunities to build practical knowledge in areas such as ethical hacking and cyber defense.
The initiative also highlights the role of collaboration between academia and national cybersecurity institutions in building a skilled workforce. Support from School of Mathematics and Computer Science at IBA Karachi contributed to the successful development of the challenge, demonstrating how educational institutions can play a key role in shaping future cybersecurity professionals. The inclusion of the challenge in the LMS ensures wider accessibility, allowing participants from across Pakistan to benefit from structured training content that reflects current cybersecurity practices.
