Islamabad, Pakistan: Pakistan National Cyber Emergency Response Team PKCERT has announced that its application for Operational Membership of Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team APCERT has been formally approved by APCERT Steering Committee. The development marks an important advancement in Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to reinforce national cybersecurity capabilities and deepen cooperation with regional partners across Asia Pacific.
APCERT serves as a recognized regional platform that connects Computer Emergency Response Teams and Computer Security Incident Response Teams from across Asia Pacific to enhance coordination in responding to cybersecurity incidents. The forum promotes trusted information sharing, collaborative incident handling, capacity development initiatives, and improvement of cybersecurity preparedness among its members. By attaining Operational Membership, PKCERT joins a network of established CERTs and CSIRTs that work collectively to address evolving cyber threats, share technical expertise, and support each other during cross border incidents. The approval reflects confidence in PKCERT’s operational maturity, governance framework, and its alignment with internationally accepted standards and best practices in cybersecurity operations.
As an Operational Member, PKCERT will actively participate in APCERT activities including coordinated responses to regional cyber incidents, joint cybersecurity exercises, structured threat intelligence exchanges, and professional development programs. Such engagement is expected to enhance Pakistan’s incident response readiness by enabling faster access to verified threat data, advanced analytical methodologies, and collaborative mitigation strategies. Participation in multinational cyber drills and simulation exercises will further strengthen technical capabilities, refine response procedures, and foster trust based partnerships with peer organizations across the region. This membership also creates opportunities for knowledge transfer, skill enhancement, and exposure to diverse operational models adopted by leading response teams in Asia Pacific.
The inclusion of PKCERT in APCERT reinforces Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cyber resilience at both national and regional levels. As digital infrastructure continues to expand across public and private sectors, effective incident response coordination and timely information sharing have become central to managing complex cyber risks. Through structured engagement with regional counterparts, PKCERT will contribute to collective cybersecurity objectives while simultaneously advancing domestic preparedness frameworks. The recognition as an Operational Member underscores Pakistan’s dedication to responsible participation in the global cybersecurity ecosystem and highlights continued progress in building a secure and resilient digital environment for the country and its regional partners.
