The government urged people to avoid clicking on any suspicious links, avoid sharing personal data such as identity card numbers or contact information, and to rely solely on verified government communication channels for accurate details about the scheme.
The Pink Scooty Scheme, launched in February 2025, is a welfare initiative designed to empower women in Sindh by promoting independent and safe commuting options. The program builds on the provincial government’s earlier success with the Pink Bus Service, introduced in 2023, which provides dedicated public transport facilities for female passengers. Under the scooty initiative, eligible women are selected through a transparent draw system and receive the vehicles free of cost. The scheme is open to permanent residents of Sindh who possess a valid driving licence and are either employed or enrolled in an educational institution.
Last month, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari personally handed over keys to the initial batch of beneficiaries, commending the province’s continued commitment to women’s mobility and empowerment. He highlighted that Sindh was the first province to launch electric buses and other inclusive transportation programs aimed at addressing gender disparity in mobility. Officials reiterated that the Pink Scooty Scheme represents a long-term effort to enhance women’s participation in public life by ensuring they can travel safely and confidently.
