National CERT – Pakistan, in collaboration with National Information Technology Board (NITB) and under the directives of the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan, organized the second training session on Cyber Security and Emerging Technologies at NITB in Islamabad. The session focused on strengthening national cyber defense, enhancing awareness on artificial intelligence, and promoting data privacy and e-governance practices among public sector professionals.
The session brought together experts, practitioners, and digital policymakers to discuss evolving cyber threats and the growing importance of adopting secure digital frameworks in governance. Ms. Zaheema Iqbal, Assistant Director (Advisories & Communications) at nCERT, and Ms. Masooma Ali, Cyber Security Expert and Computer Scientist at nCERT, led the session, sharing practical insights on cybersecurity management, AI integration, and data protection standards. Their discussions emphasized how emerging technologies are transforming digital landscapes globally and how Pakistan can align its policies and systems with international practices to ensure a resilient and secure digital infrastructure.
Participants explored critical topics including the role of disruptive technologies, global digital practices, and strategies for mitigating cyber risks in government operations. The experts highlighted that the increasing reliance on digital systems makes it essential for government departments to enhance their cybersecurity posture, adopt AI tools responsibly, and ensure citizen data privacy. The session also outlined the significance of e-Office implementation in promoting efficiency, transparency, and accountability within public institutions, contributing to the broader objectives of Digital Pakistan.
This training was part of a continuing series of capacity-building initiatives by NITB and National CERT aimed at equipping government officials and IT professionals with the skills needed to counter cyber threats and support secure governance. Attendees engaged in discussions on leveraging AI for smarter public services, strengthening digital trust, and improving institutional readiness for cyber incidents. The collaborative approach reflected a national commitment to developing a robust cybersecurity culture that prioritizes digital safety, operational resilience, and technological advancement.
