The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has taken action against 15 suspects in connection with alleged cyber crime and online fraud activities in Lahore and Multan, according to media reports. The operations were carried out as part of ongoing efforts by NCCIA to investigate digital offences and address complaints related to online financial scams, misuse of social media platforms, and other technology-related violations.
The operations were conducted under the supervision of Additional Director Atif Amir of NCCIA Lahore Zone. During the actions, multiple individuals were detained for their alleged involvement in different cases involving digital platforms and online services. Authorities also collected digital evidence, including mobile phones, SIM cards, laptops, and other records, as part of the investigation process. NCCIA continues to examine digital activities linked with these cases while following legal procedures. In Lahore, six suspects were taken into custody over allegations related to the operation of fake branchless banking accounts. According to reports, the individuals were also involved in presenting themselves as visa agents and collecting significant amounts of money from citizens through these activities. Investigators recovered several mobile phones and SIM cards during the operation, which are expected to assist in further examination of the cases and identification of possible digital links.
The Lahore operation also included action against TikToker Shazaib Sialkoti, who was detained over allegations related to uploading objectionable pictures of a woman on social media. Authorities are reviewing the matter under relevant legal frameworks concerning misuse of online platforms and digital content. In Multan, four suspects were detained over allegations of operating a fake marriage bureau and involvement in online fraud activities. Another operation in the city resulted in four more individuals, including two women, being detained in connection with an alleged illegal call centre operating on Katchery Road. Laptops and digital records were recovered from the location for further investigation.
The NCCIA has increased its focus on addressing cyber related complaints as online fraud methods continue to evolve across different digital channels. Investigations into such cases often involve reviewing electronic evidence, analysing communication records, and tracing digital transactions to understand the scope of alleged activities. The agency has stated that legal action will continue against individuals involved in cyber crime while working toward protecting citizens from online risks. These recent operations in Lahore and Multan highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to respond to complaints involving digital platforms, financial scams, and misuse of technology.
