National CERT welcomed Director General NCCIA, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, during his visit to National CERT Headquarters in Islamabad, where senior officials discussed strengthening institutional coordination to address emerging cyber threats and improve Pakistan’s cybersecurity preparedness. Director General National CERT, Dr. Haider Abbas (TI), received the visiting delegation and highlighted the importance of stronger collaboration among national institutions to enhance cyber resilience, improve information sharing, and support the protection of Pakistan’s rapidly expanding digital ecosystem.
During the engagement, National CERT presented an overview of its mandate, operational responsibilities, and ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s cybersecurity posture. Officials highlighted the organization’s efforts in proactive threat monitoring, cybersecurity incident management, cyber threat intelligence, capacity building, and coordinated response mechanisms designed to improve preparedness across public and private sector organizations. Discussions also focused on ways to enhance cooperation between National CERT and NCCIA through structured information sharing and closer technical coordination. Both organizations explored opportunities to work together in responding to evolving cyber threats while supporting cybercrime investigations that require technical expertise and coordinated action. The meeting reflected the growing importance of collaboration between institutions responsible for cybersecurity operations and agencies responsible for investigating cyber related incidents in an increasingly digital environment.
The visit also emphasized the complementary responsibilities carried out by National CERT and NCCIA in Pakistan’s cybersecurity landscape. National CERT continues to focus on cybersecurity preparedness, incident response, resilience, and technical coordination, while NCCIA is responsible for cybercrime investigation and enforcement. Officials noted that stronger engagement between both organizations can contribute to a more coordinated national response framework capable of addressing sophisticated cyber challenges. The discussions highlighted the value of combining operational expertise, threat intelligence, and investigative coordination to improve national readiness against cyber incidents affecting government institutions, businesses, and critical digital infrastructure. Capacity building, knowledge exchange, and regular institutional engagement were also identified as important elements that can further strengthen national cybersecurity efforts while supporting a more resilient digital environment.
The meeting underscored National CERT’s continued commitment to building strategic partnerships with key national stakeholders to advance Pakistan’s cybersecurity objectives. By strengthening institutional coordination and promoting sustained cooperation between technical and investigative organizations, both sides reaffirmed their shared objective of improving the country’s collective cyber defence capabilities. The engagement reflects broader efforts to establish effective coordination mechanisms that support timely incident response, facilitate information exchange, and enhance national resilience against evolving cyber risks. As digital transformation continues across multiple sectors, collaboration between organizations such as National CERT and NCCIA is expected to play an important role in supporting a secure and resilient cybersecurity ecosystem throughout Pakistan.
