National CERT Pakistan Hosts Cybersecurity Competition To Develop Future Security Professionals

National CERT Pakistan has organized a Capture The Flag (CTF) competition at Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST) to encourage cybersecurity learning and promote emerging talent in the field. The initiative brought together students and cybersecurity enthusiasts for a practical challenge designed to enhance technical skills, problem solving abilities and understanding of information security concepts. Through such activities, National CERT Pakistan continues to support cybersecurity awareness and capacity building among young professionals and students.

The Capture The Flag competition provided participants with an opportunity to apply their cybersecurity knowledge through practical exercises covering different areas of security. CTF events are widely used within the cybersecurity community as training platforms where participants solve technical challenges related to vulnerabilities, digital investigation, secure systems and defensive security practices. These competitions help students develop hands on experience beyond traditional classroom learning while preparing them for future roles in the cybersecurity industry.

The event at CUST reflects the growing focus on developing skilled cybersecurity professionals in Pakistan as organisations continue to face evolving digital security requirements. Universities and industry organisations are increasingly collaborating to create opportunities that allow students to strengthen their technical capabilities and gain exposure to real world security scenarios. National CERT Pakistan’s engagement with academic institutions highlights the importance of building a strong cybersecurity talent pipeline to support the country’s digital ecosystem.

Through initiatives such as cybersecurity competitions, awareness programmes and skill development activities, National CERT Pakistan aims to encourage innovation and improve security knowledge among the next generation of professionals. The collaboration with CUST demonstrates the value of connecting academic communities with national cybersecurity efforts and providing students with platforms to test and improve their abilities. As digital technologies continue to expand across sectors, developing trained cybersecurity professionals remains an important requirement for strengthening Pakistan’s overall cyber resilience.
