National CERT Conducts Cybersecurity Awareness Training For NTC Senior Leadership

National Cyber Emergency Response Team of Pakistan has conducted a comprehensive cybersecurity awareness training for senior management and officials of National Telecommunication Corporation at NTC Headquarters in Islamabad. The initiative was organized in line with National CERT Training Guidelines and was specifically designed for senior leadership, decision makers and key technical and administrative officials of NTC. The training focused on strengthening institutional understanding of cybersecurity responsibilities at the leadership level and reinforcing the importance of informed decision making in protecting national digital assets.

The training was delivered by Syed Imran Haider, Assistant Director Trainings at National CERT, and comprised two focused and interactive sessions titled Secure Adoption of Technology and Cyber Hygiene and Responsible AI Adoption and Robust Cybersecurity Practices. Participants were briefed on strategic cybersecurity governance, evolving threat landscapes and the role of leadership in embedding security considerations into organizational planning and operational frameworks. The sessions highlighted the importance of cyber hygiene, policy compliance, data protection and risk management, particularly within public sector environments that support critical national functions.

During the sessions, senior officials and participants engaged in in depth discussions supported by real world case studies and scenario based insights. These interactions enabled attendees to better understand emerging cyber threats, potential vulnerabilities within large scale organizations and practical steps required to mitigate both organizational and national level cyber risks. Emphasis was placed on aligning technology adoption with security by design principles and ensuring that cybersecurity is treated as a shared responsibility rather than a purely technical function. The discussions also addressed responsible use of artificial intelligence, underscoring the need for governance frameworks that balance innovation with risk management and ethical considerations.

Active participation from NTC leadership and staff reflected a growing recognition of cybersecurity as a strategic priority within the public sector. Officials acknowledged that as digital transformation accelerates, government organizations must continuously adapt their security posture to address increasingly sophisticated threats. The training reinforced the need for proactive readiness, regular capacity building and leadership driven awareness to ensure resilience against cyber incidents. Participants were encouraged to apply the insights gained to strengthen internal controls, improve incident response preparedness and promote a culture of security awareness across departments.

National CERT reaffirmed its commitment to supporting public sector entities through targeted capacity building initiatives aimed at safeguarding national digital infrastructure. By equipping senior leadership with relevant knowledge and practical perspectives, National CERT seeks to enhance institutional resilience and promote a secure and trusted cyberspace. The training at NTC forms part of a broader effort to ensure that organizations responsible for critical communications infrastructure remain prepared to manage cyber risks effectively while supporting Pakistan’s expanding digital ecosystem.
