National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) of Pakistan, in collaboration with its international technology partner MA3 Cyber, organized an application security training session for participants of the Summer Internship Program 2026. The interactive session was designed to provide interns with practical knowledge of securing modern applications and understanding the role of cybersecurity throughout the software development process. As part of National CERT’s ongoing capacity building initiatives, the training aimed to equip aspiring cybersecurity professionals with technical knowledge and real world insights that can support the development of a stronger digital security workforce in Pakistan. The initiative reflects National CERT’s continued focus on connecting emerging talent with experienced industry professionals while strengthening cybersecurity awareness through hands on learning opportunities.
The training session was delivered by Mr. Anwar Hassan, Managing Director of MA3 Cyber, with technical support from Mr. Abdul Hakim Ansari of Checkmarx. During the session, participants explored key aspects of application security, including the evolving application security landscape, common software vulnerabilities, secure coding techniques, vulnerability identification, remediation methods and security best practices for modern software development. The speakers also discussed how organizations can integrate security throughout the application development lifecycle to reduce risks and improve software resilience. By introducing interns to current application security challenges and industry practices, the session provided practical exposure to the skills required for building secure applications in today’s digital environment.
According to National CERT, the session enabled interns to gain a deeper understanding of secure software development and the importance of adopting a security first mindset from the early stages of application design through deployment and maintenance. Participants also benefited from direct interaction with experienced cybersecurity professionals, allowing them to better understand industry expectations and the practical implementation of application security principles. The training highlighted the importance of proactive vulnerability management and secure development practices as organizations continue to adopt digital technologies across both public and private sectors.
