In a significant step towards bolstering Pakistan’s cybersecurity posture, the National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Institute of Business Administration’s Center for Information and Communication Technology (IBA-CICT). The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Dr. Haider Abbas, DG nCERT, and Dr. Shakeel Khoja, Dean-SMCS, aims to synergize the strengths of both institutions to address the evolving cybersecurity challenges facing the nation.
Scope of Partnership
The partnership will focus on several key areas. Joint research and development initiatives will be undertaken to explore cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions and technologies. Moreover, the two organizations will collaborate on crafting comprehensive public awareness campaigns to educate the public about cyber threats, prevention measures, and best practices. To bridge the cybersecurity skills gap, tailored training programs will be developed and delivered to industry professionals, equipping them with the necessary expertise to protect critical infrastructure and sensitive data.
The collaboration also envisions the creation of short-term programs and diplomas in cybersecurity to nurture a new generation of cybersecurity talent. By imparting specialized skills and knowledge, these programs will contribute to building a robust cybersecurity workforce in Pakistan.
Through this partnership, nCERT and IBA aim to create a more resilient cyber ecosystem by fostering collaboration among government, industry, and academia. By combining their respective expertise, the two institutions are poised to make a significant impact on enhancing Pakistan’s cybersecurity landscape.
