Faisal Iradat, PhD, has started a new role as a Member of the Academic Cybersecurity Advisory Committee at Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan. The appointment adds another national responsibility to his academic and research portfolio while he continues serving as a Research Fellow at PKCERT Pakistan and as a faculty member at Institute of Business Administration. His latest position reflects continued collaboration between academia, cybersecurity research, and public sector initiatives aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s cybersecurity ecosystem.
According to his professional profile, Dr. Faisal Iradat has been serving as a Member of the Academic Cybersecurity Advisory Committee at Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan since December 2025 in a remote capacity. During the same period, he also assumed the role of Research Fellow at PKCERT Pakistan, contributing to cybersecurity research and related initiatives from a hybrid work arrangement based in Islamabad. Alongside these responsibilities, he continues his long standing academic career at Institute of Business Administration, where he has served for more than 27 years. He currently holds the positions of Head of the Telecommunications Research Lab and Assistant Professor, leading research activities focused on next generation telecommunications technologies. His work includes research in 6G network architecture, artificial intelligence and machine learning for network optimization, Internet of Things connectivity, Open RAN technologies, wireless communications, and resilient network security. The Telecommunications Research Lab under his leadership also supports industry collaboration, experimental research, and technology development to address emerging challenges in modern communication networks.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Iradat has held several leadership positions at Institute of Business Administration. He previously served as Acting Head of IBA CICT, where he managed learning and development initiatives, portfolio management, and operational improvements. He also served as Program Director for the Faculty of Computer Science, contributing to the development of academic policies, student guidance, doctoral program administration, and industry engagement through executive forums designed to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry. In addition, he chaired the Procurement Committee, overseeing procurement processes, compliance with institutional policies, evaluation procedures, and governance responsibilities. His experience also includes serving as Final Year Project Coordinator, supporting academic projects and student research activities. These responsibilities demonstrate a career that combines academic leadership, research management, institutional governance, and collaboration with industry stakeholders across multiple areas of higher education and technology.
Dr. Iradat earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from Institute of Business Administration, completing research focused on wireless local area networks and IEEE 802.11 based communication systems. He also holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology, where his research examined channel access techniques for IEEE 802.16 broadband wireless networks. His educational background and decades of academic experience have supported research in wireless communications, network optimization, and cybersecurity related technologies. With his continued responsibilities at Institute of Business Administration and PKCERT Pakistan, together with his appointment to the Academic Cybersecurity Advisory Committee at Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan, Dr. Iradat will continue contributing to academic research, cybersecurity knowledge, and collaboration between educational institutions and national technology initiatives.
