Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is taking a significant step towards bolstering its cybersecurity posture by establishing an international standard cyber security institute in Peshawar, the provincial capital.
The initiative, spearheaded by Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, aims to equip the province’s youth with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the ever-evolving cyber threat landscape. The meeting, which included Provincial Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi and relevant department officials, charted the course for the institute.

This state-of-the-art facility will leverage existing government infrastructure and offer a comprehensive curriculum encompassing bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programs in cybersecurity. Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized the urgency of establishing this specialized institute and directed the Higher Education and Science & Technology departments to finalize a concrete proposal for swift approval.
Recognizing the burgeoning importance of cybersecurity, CM Gandapur pledged the provincial government’s unwavering support. He highlighted the critical role the institute will play in fostering a skilled cybersecurity workforce and unlocking the immense potential of the IT sector within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The vision extends beyond Peshawar, with plans to establish similar institutes in divisional headquarters in the future. This initiative underscores the provincial government’s commitment to empowering its youth with advanced IT education and training, preparing them for lucrative career opportunities on both national and international stages.
