A group of around 50 women were allegedly taken to a farmhouse in Karachi after responding to what they believed was a legitimate job opportunity advertised through a WhatsApp group, prompting Karachi police to launch an investigation into the incident. Authorities have confirmed that the organizer linked to the alleged recruitment scheme has been sacked, while further inquiries are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the case and whether additional individuals were involved. The incident has drawn public attention due to concerns over the misuse of online messaging platforms for recruitment activities and the safety of job seekers.
According to the account shared by one of the women involved, the opportunity was presented through a WhatsApp job group offering temporary promotional work with a daily payment of Rs2,000 for a period of 25 days. Participants were reportedly informed that they would be assigned to stalls representing different brands during an event in Bahria Town. The woman stated that those interested were instructed to gather at designated pickup points, where buses would transport them to the work location. She explained that the bus was scheduled to collect participants at around 9am, while several meetings had already taken place in different parts of the city to coordinate arrangements. Women from Gulistan e Johar and other localities reportedly assembled at the agreed meeting points, believing they were heading toward another briefing or directly to the promotional activity in Bahria Town.
The woman further alleged that the situation changed after the journey began, claiming that the bus did not travel to Bahria Town as expected but instead arrived at a farmhouse. Upon reaching the location, the participants were reportedly informed that they should remain there and enjoy themselves until the owner arrived later in the evening. She claimed that a man identified as Salman collected the mobile phones of the women as well as the coordinator. According to her account, he then called the women individually, asked each person for her name, and instructed them to wait while he remained in contact with another individual. The woman also alleged that the participants were asked to sit in a line while waiting for the supposed owner. She added that the coordinator later moved toward the gate and allegedly observed Salman leaving the premises on a motorcycle with the collected phones, raising concerns among those present regarding the nature of the gathering and the intentions behind the recruitment process.
Following the reported incident, Karachi police initiated action and confirmed that the organizer connected to the alleged scheme has been sacked while the investigation continues. Authorities are working to establish the sequence of events, verify the statements provided by those involved, and determine whether any additional individuals played a role in organizing or facilitating the activity. Officials have not yet released further details regarding the outcome of the investigation or any additional measures that may follow. The case has also highlighted the importance of exercising caution when responding to employment opportunities shared through social media platforms and messaging applications, particularly those promising quick earnings without clear organizational details. As investigators continue gathering evidence and speaking with those involved, authorities are expected to assess all available information before reaching any conclusions regarding the incident.
