Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to intensify its efforts against organized networks involved in online financial fraud, fake accounts, digital blackmail and online harassment. The directives were issued during a meeting held at NCCIA Central Zone Headquarters in Lahore, where the minister reviewed the agency’s ongoing work and discussed measures aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s response to evolving cybercrime threats. According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting focused on improving investigation capabilities, enhancing coordination among relevant institutions and ensuring that cybercrime complaints involving financial losses receive a faster and more effective response. The minister emphasized the importance of strengthening operational capacity to address increasingly complex digital offences affecting individuals and businesses.
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi instructed authorities to take impartial action against organized cybercrime groups involved in financial fraud and other forms of digital exploitation. He stressed that cases involving online financial fraud require an immediate response mechanism so that complaints can be processed without unnecessary delays and affected individuals can receive timely assistance. The minister directed the relevant authorities to improve coordination with institutions connected to financial investigations, allowing suspected fraudulent transactions to be identified quickly and increasing the possibility of securing victims’ funds before they are moved further through financial channels. According to the directions issued during the meeting, closer cooperation between investigative agencies and partner institutions will also strengthen the ability to trace suspected individuals and monitor the movement of funds connected to digital fraud investigations.
The meeting also highlighted the growing importance of digital forensic capabilities in addressing cybercrime. Mohsin Naqvi instructed NCCIA to further enhance its forensic infrastructure by making greater use of modern digital forensic tools capable of supporting detailed cyber investigations. He noted that advances in technology have enabled cybercriminals to adopt increasingly sophisticated methods, making technical expertise an essential component of successful investigations. In addition to strengthening forensic resources, the minister directed the agency to expand specialized training opportunities for investigation officers so they can effectively handle complex cybercrime cases involving financial fraud, digital blackmail, fake online identities and online harassment.
