The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing has reported a significant rise in WhatsApp account hacking incidents across Pakistan, marking a troubling trend in the country’s cybersecurity landscape. Since July 1, 2024, the agency has received more than 1,400 complaints from users who have fallen victim to account breaches.
Of these cases, 549 accounts have been successfully restored, while 877 complaints remain under investigation. FIA has initiated formal inquiries into 20 cases, and 40 more are still awaiting further response.
