A hands on Digital Forensics workshop has been announced under the title Revealing the Invisible The Art of Digital Evidence Recovery, jointly organized by Rapid Emergency and Cyber Team REACT and the Center for Cyber Security and Digital Forensics. The session is designed to provide participants with practical exposure to digital investigation techniques and real world evidence recovery processes. It aims to strengthen technical understanding of how digital traces are identified, preserved, and analyzed in modern cyber environments where data integrity and investigative accuracy play a critical role in cybersecurity operations.
The workshop brings together an opportunity for learners and professionals to gain applied knowledge in digital forensics under the guidance of an industry experienced specialist. The guest speaker for the session is Muhammad Sibtain A, who is a Phd IS scholar and Cybersecurity Specialist, serving as Incharge of Forensics at NCCIA Pakistan. He holds certifications including CEH and CHFI, and brings practical field experience in handling forensic investigations. His session is expected to provide structured insights into forensic methodologies used in real investigative scenarios, particularly in environments where digital evidence plays a central role in identifying and analyzing security incidents.
Participants will be trained on a range of practical skills related to digital evidence handling and recovery techniques. The workshop includes modules on recovering deleted and formatted data, restoring hidden and lost files using Autopsy, and analyzing file systems and metadata to locate recoverable information. It also covers the process of preserving digital evidence through forensic imaging using FTK Imager, ensuring that data integrity is maintained during investigation procedures. The focus remains on hands on learning, allowing participants to work through realistic scenarios that reflect challenges faced in cybersecurity and forensic investigations. The training is structured to help attendees understand how digital artifacts can be traced, reconstructed, and interpreted to support investigative outcomes in both technical and legal contexts.
The initiative is open to cybersecurity students, IT professionals, and law enforcement enthusiasts who are seeking to strengthen their understanding of forensic tools and investigative techniques. The session is scheduled to take place on Sunday 10th May 2026 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM and will be conducted on Google Meet, making it accessible to participants across different locations. The organizers have emphasized that this workshop provides a focused learning environment where participants can engage directly with practical tools and methodologies used in digital forensics. The collaboration between REACT and Center for Cyber Security and Digital Forensics reflects a growing emphasis on skill based cybersecurity education in Pakistan, particularly in areas related to evidence recovery and cyber investigation practices. Registration for the workshop is currently open through the provided online link, encouraging interested individuals to participate and enhance their technical capabilities in the field of digital forensics.
