The National Cyber Security Academy (NCSA), Kharian Chapter, at Air University continued its community outreach efforts by conducting cybersecurity awareness sessions for students at Siblings Academy in Bamla, District Chakwal. The sessions were held on 31 October 2026 and were led by Mr. Haseeb Ahmed, Lecturer at NCSA Kharian Chapter. Separate sessions were organized for boys and girls to help students understand common online threats and develop safer digital habits. The initiative focused on improving students’ awareness of cybersecurity risks and providing practical guidance for navigating the digital environment responsibly.
During the sessions, students learned about several important cybersecurity topics, including online threats, phishing, social engineering, data privacy and password security. The discussions explained how cybercriminals may use deceptive messages, suspicious links and impersonation techniques to manipulate internet users into sharing sensitive information or granting unauthorized access to their accounts. Students were encouraged to examine unfamiliar communications carefully, verify the identity of people contacting them online and avoid responding to suspicious requests. The sessions also highlighted how social engineering can exploit trust and a lack of awareness, making it important for internet users to remain cautious when interacting with unfamiliar individuals and digital platforms.
Data privacy and password security were also key areas of discussion. Students were introduced to the importance of protecting personal information and understanding the risks associated with sharing sensitive details online. The sessions emphasized the need to create strong passwords, avoid reusing credentials across different accounts and keep login information private. Participants also received guidance on safe social media practices, including being careful about the information they publish, reviewing privacy settings and avoiding interactions that could expose them to online threats. These practices are particularly important for young internet users, who increasingly rely on digital platforms for communication, education and entertainment.
Another important part of the awareness programme focused on cyber laws in Pakistan. Students were introduced to the legal dimension of online activities and the importance of responsible digital behaviour. Understanding cyber laws can help young people recognize that actions carried out through digital platforms may have legal consequences, particularly when they involve harassment, misuse of personal information, impersonation or other forms of online misconduct. By including this subject, the sessions aimed to encourage students to use technology responsibly while understanding the importance of respecting the privacy, safety and rights of others in digital spaces.
The sessions at Siblings Academy form part of NCSA’s broader commitment to promoting cybersecurity awareness and supporting the development of a safer digital society. By taking cybersecurity education into educational institutions and local communities, the academy aims to help students develop the knowledge needed to identify online risks and make informed decisions when using digital services. The involvement of an NCSA lecturer also provided an opportunity for students to engage directly with cybersecurity education and discuss practical concerns related to their online activities.
Through this community outreach initiative, NCSA Kharian Chapter and Air University reinforced the importance of introducing cybersecurity awareness at an early stage. As students continue to use the internet for learning, communication and social interaction, understanding online threats and adopting secure digital practices can help reduce their exposure to potential risks. The awareness sessions encouraged participants to remain vigilant, protect their personal information and contribute to a more responsible online environment. NCSA reiterated its commitment to continuing community-focused awareness efforts to strengthen digital safety and promote cybersecurity education across society.
