The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has conducted cyber awareness sessions at schools and colleges in Multan, Gujranwala, Gilgit, and Sahiwal to educate students and teachers about online safety, digital risks, and responsible use of social media platforms. The awareness initiative was organized by NCCIA circles in the respective cities under the direction of Director General NCCIA Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, with participation from a large number of students and faculty members. The sessions focused on increasing awareness about common online challenges and providing practical guidance to help young users adopt safer digital practices.
During the awareness programs, NCCIA officers highlighted the importance of responsible social media usage and explained precautionary measures that students and teachers can follow to protect themselves from online harassment and fraudulent activities. The sessions covered several areas related to digital security, including recognizing suspicious online activities, protecting personal information, and making informed decisions while using internet-based platforms. Participants were guided on how online risks can emerge through different channels and why maintaining caution while interacting on digital platforms is important. The officers also provided practical information about identifying fake links, avoiding One-Time Password (OTP) scams, and staying protected from fraudulent loan applications and online financial fraud attempts. Students and teachers were informed that individuals with harmful intentions often use fake prize announcements, misleading job opportunities, and other deceptive methods to collect personal information or gain unauthorized access to financial details. Through these discussions, NCCIA aimed to improve digital awareness among young users and help them recognize warning signs associated with suspicious online activities.
The awareness sessions also included guidance on the process for submitting cybercrime complaints and information about NCCIA’s helpline 1799, allowing participants to understand available support channels when facing online issues. According to an NCCIA official, educating students and teachers is an important part of building a safer digital environment, as younger internet users increasingly engage with online services for education, communication, and daily activities. The agency continues to focus on awareness initiatives that encourage responsible technology use and strengthen public understanding of cybersecurity practices.
Director General NCCIA Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi stated that protecting the younger generation from cyber threats remains a priority for the agency. He added that cyber awareness campaigns will continue across different regions of Pakistan to promote safer and more responsible use of digital platforms. Through these ongoing initiatives, NCCIA aims to support efforts toward building a secure Digital Pakistan by improving cybersecurity awareness and encouraging citizens to take preventive measures while navigating online spaces.
