The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) of Pakistan hosted a delegation from the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Karachi, as part of the Inland Study Tour of the 40th Senior Management Course (SMC). The visiting delegation included approximately 34 government officers representing federal and provincial governments, autonomous bodies, and three course faculty members who participated in the visit to gain insights into institutional frameworks, governance practices, and operational mechanisms of key public sector organizations.
The Inland Study Tour is an important component of the Senior Management Course, designed to provide senior government officers with practical exposure to the functioning of different institutions and strategic organizations. Through these visits, participants gain a better understanding of management approaches, administrative structures, and operational practices that contribute to effective governance and public service delivery. During the visit, National CERT provided participants with an overview of Pakistan’s evolving cybersecurity landscape and the institutional measures being taken to address emerging cyber challenges. Mr. Syed Imran Haider, Assistant Director Trainings at National CERT, welcomed the delegation and delivered a detailed briefing on the mandate, organizational structure, functions, and strategic role of National CERT in strengthening cybersecurity capabilities across the country.
The briefing highlighted various initiatives and programmes undertaken by National CERT to improve national cyber resilience, enhance cybersecurity awareness, develop technical skills, and encourage collaboration among government institutions, academia, industry, and other relevant stakeholders. The session focused on the importance of building stronger cybersecurity capabilities and creating coordinated approaches to protect Pakistan’s digital ecosystem. The delegation also participated in an interactive discussion with National CERT officials, where participants explored contemporary cybersecurity challenges and discussed the importance of institutional coordination in managing digital risks. The engagement provided government officers with an opportunity to understand the role of cybersecurity frameworks and collaborative efforts in protecting critical information systems and strengthening digital resilience.
The visit emphasized the importance of informed leadership, coordination between institutions, and continuous capacity development in advancing cybersecurity objectives. By engaging senior government officers through knowledge-sharing sessions, National CERT continues to support awareness and understanding of cybersecurity priorities among key stakeholders involved in public administration.
