National CERT Opens New Cybersecurity Facilities To Expand Capacity Development In Pakistan

National CERT, in collaboration with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and with the support of the Embassy of Norway, has inaugurated two new infrastructure facilities aimed at strengthening cybersecurity capacity development in Pakistan. The new facilities include the Multi Facility Hub and the Public Awareness and Media Studio (PAMS), both established to enhance technical expertise, cybersecurity awareness, and collaboration among government institutions, academia, critical infrastructure organizations, and other stakeholders. The initiative reflects the continued efforts of National CERT and its international partners to strengthen Pakistan’s cybersecurity ecosystem by providing dedicated spaces for professional development, public engagement, and knowledge sharing.

The Multi Facility Hub has been designed as a modern and purpose built venue capable of hosting professional training programs, interactive workshops, stakeholder consultations, seminars, round table discussions, table talks, and high level meetings. Equipped with modern technology and flexible infrastructure, the facility is intended to support the development of cybersecurity skills among government officials, personnel from critical infrastructure organizations, academic institutions, and other relevant stakeholders. By creating an environment that encourages collaboration and continuous learning, the hub aims to strengthen technical competencies and contribute to the development of a skilled and resilient national cybersecurity workforce. National CERT believes the facility will play an important role in supporting capacity building initiatives while encouraging closer cooperation between public sector institutions, industry experts, and educational organizations working to improve Pakistan’s cybersecurity readiness.

Alongside the Multi Facility Hub, National CERT also inaugurated the Public Awareness and Media Studio, a modern multimedia facility equipped with advanced audio visual technology and professional broadcasting capabilities. The studio has been established to support the production of podcasts, interviews, live streams, webinars, and a wide range of digital content focused on cybersecurity awareness. Through this platform, National CERT plans to create informative content covering digital safety, cyber hygiene, emerging cyber threats, and other topics aimed at educating citizens, organizations, and stakeholders. The facility will also provide a dedicated platform for expert discussions, interviews, and awareness campaigns designed to improve public understanding of cybersecurity challenges while promoting safer digital practices across Pakistan. By combining technical education with public outreach, the studio is expected to strengthen communication efforts and make cybersecurity information more accessible to a broader audience.

The two facilities were formally inaugurated by Dr. Haider Abbas, TI, Director General National CERT, together with Ms. Siri Håkedal Vestøl, Counsellor and Immigration Liaison Officer at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Pakistan. During the ceremony, Dr. Haider Abbas briefed the visiting delegation on National CERT’s mandate and its role in strengthening Pakistan’s cybersecurity landscape. He thanked the Embassy of Norway for supporting the establishment of both facilities and noted that they would serve as valuable resources for stakeholders across the country. Ms. Vestøl acknowledged the important work being carried out by National CERT to strengthen Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and expressed hope for continued collaboration in supporting the country’s development. The partnership between National CERT, ICMPD, and the Embassy of Norway reflects a shared commitment to promoting a digitally secure, socially resilient, and culturally cohesive Pakistan through innovation, collaboration, and continued investment in cybersecurity capacity development.
