National CERT Conducts Cybersecurity Capacity Building Training At Information Services Academy

National Cyber Emergency Response Team of Pakistan conducted a comprehensive cybersecurity capacity building training at Information Services Academy in Islamabad under its Cybersecurity Capacity Building Program. The initiative was delivered in line with National CERT Training Guidelines and focused on enhancing both operational and strategic cyber threat management capabilities across government organizations. The program was designed to strengthen institutional readiness by improving awareness of evolving cyber risks and reinforcing structured approaches to cybersecurity governance within public sector entities.

Senior officials from Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Pakistan and its attached departments actively participated in the training. Participants included representatives from Press Information Department, Associated Press of Pakistan, Information Services Academy, and other affiliated organizations. The training was structured to provide practical insights into identifying cyber threats, assessing risks, and implementing mitigation strategies relevant to government operations. Attention was given to addressing both human centric vulnerabilities and technology driven threats, reflecting the diverse risk landscape faced by public institutions. Emphasis was also placed on proactive defense measures and resilience planning to support continuity of digital services.

The training was delivered by Mr Khurram Javed, Director Capacity Building at National CERT, using an interactive and scenario based methodology. Real world challenges and contextual discussions were incorporated to ensure that participants could translate theoretical concepts into actionable practices. The approach encouraged active engagement, enabling officials to discuss emerging threat patterns, cybersecurity best practices, and response strategies applicable to their organizational environments. Through structured scenarios, participants explored ways to strengthen internal processes and improve coordination when managing cyber incidents.

The session recorded strong engagement from participants, with discussions centered on protecting individuals, institutions, and public digital platforms from online risks and digital exploitation. The training also reinforced the importance of sustained capacity building as a key element of national cyber resilience. By continuing to invest in targeted training programs, National CERT aims to support government organizations in enhancing their cybersecurity posture and safeguarding critical information assets. Such initiatives reflect ongoing efforts to build a coordinated and informed public sector approach to cybersecurity risk management in Pakistan.
