Zong 4G Achieves 2nd Position in PTA’s Annual Cyber Security Awards

Zong 4G has achieved 2nd position in the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Annual Cyber Security Awards 2025 for Category-I operators, moving up from its 3rd place ranking last year. The recognition reflects the company’s progress in strengthening its cybersecurity framework and aligning with national and international best practices in data protection and network security. The announcement was made during the Next-Gen Cyber Resilience Workshop and Telecom Cyber Security Awards 2025, held at Marriott Hotel, Islamabad. The event, chaired by Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, brought together key leaders from Pakistan’s telecom sector to discuss advancements in areas such as 5G, FinTech, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and LEO Satellite Communications.

PTA conducts annual cybersecurity audits for all telecom operators, using detailed evaluation parameters to measure readiness against emerging threats. Category-I includes Cellular Mobile Operators and large multi-license operators. Zong CMPak’s improved position this year highlights its strengthened technical measures and operational capabilities in mitigating cyber risks. The assessment covered compliance with Critical Telecom Data & Infrastructure Security Regulation audits, progress in external attack surface management, effective threat intelligence sharing with the National Telecom Security Operations Center (nTSOC), strong engagement with the National Telecom Cyber Emergency Response Team (nTCERT), and a high DNS Security (DNSSEC) validation score from APNIC. These performance indicators underscore the importance of multi-layered security protocols and collaborative intelligence efforts in safeguarding national telecom infrastructure.

Head of Information Security at Zong 4G, Rehan Siddiq, attributed the achievement to the dedication of the company’s cybersecurity teams and its consistent focus on investing in advanced protective solutions. He emphasized that maintaining strong cyber defenses is central to the company’s operations, and that Zong 4G will continue enhancing its capabilities to ensure compliance with evolving regulations and to protect customer data. The recognition from PTA further affirms the company’s ability to maintain resilience against complex cyber threats while contributing to a more secure and reliable telecom ecosystem in Pakistan.

By sustaining its focus on innovation and security integration, Zong 4G continues to play an active role in raising the cybersecurity standards of the telecom industry. The company’s initiatives, aligned with PTA regulations and global benchmarks, aim to ensure that its network remains secure, resilient, and capable of meeting the demands of a digitally connected economy. This year’s improved ranking reflects the results of sustained investment, operational discipline, and industry collaboration in securing Pakistan’s telecom infrastructure.
