Spearheaded by the GRC Directorate in collaboration with the Capacity Building Directorate, this interactive training workshop engaged representatives from five pivotal government departments and organizations. Participating entities included the Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives; the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination; the Ministry of Science and Technology; the State and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP); and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. The workshop aimed to foster awareness of National CERT’s Cybersecurity Guidelines, strengthen participants’ understanding of security posture assessments, and introduce strategies for enhancing organizational security frameworks.
Dr. Mehreen Afzal, Director of GRC, led the session with an insightful and dynamic delivery, establishing the foundational importance of adopting robust cybersecurity practices across public sector institutions and briefed the audience about the โcyber security implementation guidelinesโ issued by National CERT. This was followed by thought-provoking contributions from Mr. Khurram Javed, Director of Capacity Building, and Dr. Muhammad Yousaf, Director CERT, who delved deeper into practical applications of security posture enhancement and the technical nuances of cybersecurity risk management. Their combined expertise provided a holistic perspective, equipping participants with the tools and knowledge necessary to asses and improve the security posture of government infrastructures against evolving cyber threats.
This marks the first session of the CyberSecureGov initiative, with additional workshops scheduled to be conducted in the coming days as part of the National CERT’s broader capacity-building efforts. By bringing together key stakeholders and fostering an environment of shared learning, National CERT continues to solidify its commitment to empowering public sector institutions in navigating the complexities of the modern cybersecurity landscape. Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to strengthen our collective cyber resilience.
