A TikToker identified as Makhdoom Junaid, commonly known as Junaid Jani, was arrested in Karachi in connection with a honey trap and extortion case after a dramatic confrontation with law enforcement. According to National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) officials, the suspect resisted arrest, used family members as a human shield, and attacked an FIA officer with a sharp weapon during the operation. The incident left one officer injured before the suspect was subdued and taken into custody.
Officials stated that a team from NCCIA Sukkur, supported by Mubina Town police, arrived in Karachi to execute an arrest warrant against Jani following a case registered against him. When the team reached his residence, the suspect attempted to evade arrest by creating chaos. He began livestreaming from a nearby street, where he allegedly incited women present in the house to engage in inappropriate behavior, including undressing in protest. The situation escalated further when he allegedly assaulted a government officer with a sharp tool, causing serious injuries.
Despite resistance, law enforcement officers managed to detain Jani along with three women from his household, identified as Fehmida, Ghazala, and Kainat. All four were transported to Sukkur for further investigation and legal proceedings. Authorities revealed that the case originated from a complaint involving a man who had been deceived into forming contact with a woman named Reshma. The complainant later received objectionable, doctored videos and was subjected to blackmail. Jani allegedly extorted more than Rs4 million from the victim and demanded an additional Rs7 million under threats of releasing the videos publicly.
Law enforcement also confirmed that, in addition to the cybercrime-related case, a separate FIR was filed at a local police station for the attack on a government official during the arrest operation. Officials emphasized that the case demonstrates a growing trend of cyber-enabled scams, where digital platforms are misused to lure and exploit individuals. NCCIA has warned that investigations will continue to uncover the full extent of Jani’s activities and whether more victims were targeted in similar schemes.
