PRAL Leadership Visit To Peshawar Highlights Digitization And Cybersecurity Focus

The Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited leadership continued its engagement with key revenue stakeholders as the General Manager Operations and the Chief Information Security Officer visited Peshawar on December 18, 2025. The visit formed part of PRAL ongoing outreach with federal field formations to assess system performance, understand on ground challenges, and reinforce collaboration with Federal Board of Revenue offices. Meetings were held with the Honourable Chief Collector MCC Peshawar and the Honourable Chief Commissioner RTO Peshawar, alongside senior Customs and Inland Revenue officers, as well as local PRAL teams responsible for supporting critical revenue operations in the region.

During discussions, the Honourable Chief Collector MCC Peshawar and Honourable Chief Commissioner RTO Peshawar acknowledged PRAL central role in enabling government revenue collection through technology driven systems. They highlighted that Customs and Inland Revenue operations rely heavily on PRAL platforms for processing, monitoring, and reporting, making system reliability and security essential for day to day functioning. The leadership emphasized that automation has significantly reduced manual intervention, improved record accuracy, and enhanced transparency across revenue workflows. Both offices stressed the importance of continued coordination with PRAL to ensure that systems remain responsive to evolving regulatory requirements and operational needs in the field.

PRAL leadership used the opportunity to underline the importance of sustained digitization as a core pillar of revenue administration. The General Manager Operations and CISO shared insights on how continuous system upgrades, improved data integration, and stronger cybersecurity controls can further improve efficiency while reducing vulnerabilities that may be exploited for tax fraud or data misuse. They reiterated PRAL commitment to strengthening safeguards around sensitive taxpayer and trade data, aligning technology practices with national cybersecurity priorities and FBR policy objectives. Discussions also touched on the need for proactive monitoring, timely incident response, and regular system audits to maintain trust in digital revenue platforms.

A key component of the visit involved interactive sessions with field officers from Customs and Inland Revenue formations. These engagements allowed officers to share firsthand experiences related to operational bottlenecks, system usability issues, and emerging cybersecurity concerns observed during daily use of PRAL applications. Feedback from the field provided valuable context on how systems perform under real world conditions, particularly during peak processing periods. PRAL teams noted that such interactions help bridge the gap between system design and practical implementation, enabling more targeted improvements. The visit reinforced PRAL focus on working closely with FBR and its field formations to enhance automation, operational efficiency, and cyber resilience, ensuring that revenue systems remain robust, secure, and aligned with national fiscal objectives.
