National Information Technology Board (NITB), in collaboration with National Computer Emergency Response Team (National CERT – Pakistan), organized the second training session on Cyber Security and Emerging Technologies under the directives of the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication. The session, held at NITB, brought together experts and officials from across the digital ecosystem to explore the intersection of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data privacy, and digital governance.
The training featured Ms. Zaheema Iqbal, Assistant Director (Advisories & Communications) at nCERT, and Ms. Masooma Ali, Cyber Security Expert and Computer Scientist at nCERT. Both speakers delivered detailed discussions on the evolving nature of global cyber threats, emphasizing the importance of developing proactive defense mechanisms to safeguard Pakistan’s digital infrastructure. They also shed light on disruptive technologies and the need to integrate global best practices to enhance resilience in the country’s cyberspace.
Participants were guided through practical approaches to identifying and managing emerging cyber risks, especially those linked to AI-driven technologies. The session highlighted how artificial intelligence can be leveraged to strengthen governance frameworks, streamline operations, and ensure faster, data-driven decision-making within government entities. The experts emphasized that as digital systems grow more complex, maintaining robust cybersecurity measures is no longer optional but essential for national stability and citizen trust.
Another important aspect of the session focused on the role of data privacy and the ethical use of technology. The speakers discussed frameworks to ensure that citizens’ personal information remains secure while promoting transparency and accountability in digital services. Participants were also briefed on NITB’s e-Office initiative, which continues to transform internal workflows within government institutions, reducing paper dependency and enhancing operational efficiency through digital means.
The training underscored the need for continuous capacity-building efforts within public sector institutions. By equipping professionals with advanced knowledge on cybersecurity and emerging technologies, NITB and National CERT aim to strengthen the country’s collective defense posture and encourage a culture of digital responsibility. The event concluded with an interactive discussion and a group photo featuring the speakers, guests, and participants—signifying a shared commitment toward advancing secure digital governance in Pakistan.
