National CERT Appoints Asif Raza Kazmi As Director TDC

National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT), Government of Pakistan, has announced the appointment of Asif Raza Kazmi as Director TDC. With a career spanning over three decades, Kazmi brings a wealth of expertise in ICT and cybersecurity, shaped through a distinguished military tenure and subsequent corporate engagements. His appointment highlights National CERT’s continued efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s cybersecurity ecosystem and advance the nation’s digital security framework.

Throughout his professional journey, Asif Raza Kazmi has held several leadership positions, including Deputy Director Information Assurance, Director IT Operations, and Chief Technology Officer. During his military service, he played a key role in developing information security strategies and implementing digital transformation initiatives. Beyond his operational experience, he has also contributed to academia as an instructor at the College of Signals, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), where he shared his expertise in cybersecurity and information systems with future professionals. In his corporate tenure, Kazmi led pre-sales and business development teams, further expanding his understanding of how technology can drive innovation and strengthen organizational resilience.

Kazmi’s academic background is equally distinguished. He is a graduate of Command & Staff College Quetta and the U.S. Army Signals Center at Fort Gordon, Georgia. His educational accomplishments include Gold Medal–winning degrees in Software Engineering and a Master’s in Information Security from NUST. This combination of technical education, military discipline, and strategic leadership provides a strong foundation for his new role. His experiences across defense, education, and corporate sectors uniquely position him to guide National CERT’s ongoing initiatives in cybersecurity preparedness and response.

Known for his collaborative approach, Kazmi emphasizes teamwork, innovation, and shared purpose. His leadership philosophy aligns with National CERT’s mission of fostering cooperation among institutions to enhance national cyber resilience. Under his direction, the organization aims to strengthen its technical capabilities, improve incident response mechanisms, and build stronger partnerships across government, academia, and industry. His appointment is expected to bring renewed focus to advancing the country’s cybersecurity readiness through strategic development and continuous improvement.

National CERT expressed confidence in Asif Raza Kazmi’s ability to lead the TDC effectively, noting that his extensive background in cybersecurity and information assurance will significantly contribute to the organization’s mission.
