The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has initiated an investigation into an alleged digital financial fraud network in Islamabad after conducting an operation that resulted in around 200 foreign nationals being taken into custody. According to a statement issued by the NCCIA spokesperson, the agency carried out a series of actions across different areas of the capital after identifying locations linked to the suspected activities. The operation included a major search activity in Islamabad’s I-9 sector, followed by further actions in other sectors based on information collected during the investigation. Authorities stated that laptops, servers, computer hard drives, and other digital devices were recovered during the operation and will be examined as part of the ongoing inquiry.
According to NCCIA officials, the operation was launched as part of efforts to investigate suspected financial fraud activities conducted through digital platforms. Investigators are reviewing the role of individuals present at the locations and analyzing the recovered electronic equipment to determine the nature and scope of the alleged activities. The agency stated that the recovered devices will undergo forensic examination to identify relevant digital information, communication records, and other evidence that may assist investigators during the legal process. Authorities have not shared final findings from the forensic review, and further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
The latest operation follows previous NCCIA actions in Islamabad involving suspected cyber fraud activities and unauthorized call centre operations. In August 2026, NCCIA conducted an operation in Islamabad’s I-10/3 sector in which hundreds of foreign nationals were detained during an investigation into alleged online fraud and other cyber related activities. Authorities at the time said electronic devices and other material were recovered, while investigations were launched to examine the operations and the individuals involved. In September, NCCIA also conducted operations against suspected illegal call centres in Islamabad, where more than 200 individuals were taken into custody and digital equipment was recovered for further investigation.
NCCIA has continued to focus on investigating digital financial fraud, online scams, and misuse of technology platforms as cyber related incidents become increasingly complex. The agency has stated that its investigations involve collecting digital evidence, conducting forensic analysis, and determining the involvement of individuals based on available information and legal procedures. In the latest Islamabad case, authorities are continuing their examination of the recovered equipment and information to establish further details about the alleged network, its operational structure, and any possible links to broader digital fraud activities. The outcome of the investigation will depend on forensic findings and the completion of legal procedures.
