The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore Zone has taken action against two individuals over alleged involvement in a call centre operation linked to financial fraud complaints involving US citizens. The agency conducted the operation after identifying suspicious activities at a call centre located on Main Boulevard, Gulberg, Lahore. According to NCCIA officials, the action was carried out after preliminary findings gathered through open-source intelligence, followed by obtaining a search warrant from the relevant court. The development highlights continued efforts by cybercrime authorities to investigate digital fraud activities and address cases involving misuse of online communication platforms for financial schemes.
NCCIA Lahore Zone Additional Director Atif Ameer said the suspects were identified as call centre owner Irshad Ahmed Butt and his employee, Aurangzeb. During the initial investigation, officials found that the individuals allegedly contacted US citizens while presenting themselves as representatives of insurance companies. The suspects reportedly collected credit and debit card information from individuals by presenting the communication as part of an insurance campaign. According to the agency’s statement, the collected information was allegedly used for unauthorised financial transactions. NCCIA stated that further investigation is underway to determine the full scope of the activities and identify any additional links connected to the case.
During the operation, NCCIA officials recovered electronic devices, including laptops and mobile phones, from the location. The agency said an examination of the recovered devices revealed the presence of online calling software and data associated with suspected financial fraud activities. Such tools are commonly used by call centres to manage communication with individuals across different regions, making digital evidence analysis an important part of cybercrime investigations. The recovered material will be examined further as part of the ongoing process to understand the methods used, identify potential victims, and collect additional information related to the case.
The NCCIA has continued to monitor and investigate cyber-enabled financial activities involving digital communication channels, particularly cases where online platforms are allegedly used to target individuals through deceptive approaches. Authorities have increased focus on identifying suspicious operations, collecting digital evidence, and taking action based on legal procedures. The Lahore Zone operation reflects the agency’s ongoing efforts to address cybercrime cases involving financial information misuse and strengthen measures against activities that impact individuals and organisations across borders. Further details regarding the investigation will be shared as the case progresses and additional findings become available.
