The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) hosted an interactive session on “Digital Infrastructure, Cybersecurity & Data Protection” in collaboration with Sky47 Limited on September 2, 2026. The session brought together industry leaders, technology experts, and member company representatives to discuss Pakistan’s evolving digital landscape and the importance of developing secure, resilient, and sustainable digital infrastructure. The event was attended by participants both onsite and online, creating a platform for discussions around cybersecurity challenges, data protection practices, and the role of advanced technologies in supporting the country’s digital transformation.
The session was welcomed by OICCI Secretary General M Abdul Aleem, Executive Director Kashif Shafi, and Assistant Manager IT & Administration Syed Waqar Arif. Discussions focused on strengthening local data centers and improving cloud and artificial intelligence capabilities to support data sovereignty, regulatory compliance, business continuity, and resilience against emerging risks. Participants highlighted that reliable digital infrastructure has become a key requirement for organizations as businesses increasingly depend on technology platforms, cloud services, and data driven operations. The conversation also emphasized the need for collaboration among industry leaders, technology providers, and government stakeholders to create frameworks that support secure digital growth in Pakistan.
Cybersecurity and data governance were among the major topics discussed during the session, with participants exploring approaches to protect critical information assets and improve organizational readiness against potential risks. The discussion covered areas including disaster recovery, responsible AI adoption, data classification, and access control mechanisms. Experts also highlighted concerns related to “shadow AI” and the importance of establishing clear policies for managing artificial intelligence usage within organizations. As AI adoption continues to expand, businesses are increasingly focusing on responsible implementation practices that balance innovation with security and privacy requirements.
The session also highlighted the importance of international security standards in strengthening digital trust and operational resilience. Frameworks including ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, ISO 42001, and PCI DSS were discussed as important benchmarks for improving cybersecurity practices and supporting compliance requirements. Participants further emphasized the need for sustainable and energy efficient infrastructure to support Pakistan’s growing digital economy. The event concluded with a focus on increasing cooperation between industry, technology providers, government bodies, and regulatory institutions to develop secure and resilient digital ecosystems. Through continued collaboration and adoption of recognized security practices, stakeholders aim to support long term technology development and strengthen Pakistan’s position in the digital economy.
