The Punjab School Education Department has directed all public and private schools across the province to implement the Educational Institutions Security Status (EISS) Mobile Application and Web Portal as part of a province wide initiative to strengthen monitoring of security arrangements at educational institutions. The directive was issued by the Directorate General Monitoring and Evaluation through a letter dated August 23, 2026, addressed to all Chief Executive Officers of District Education Authorities. The department has instructed CEOs to circulate the directions to the heads of both public and private schools and ensure that the new system is implemented in accordance with the prescribed instructions. The move forms part of an effort to establish a centralized digital framework for collecting and monitoring security related information from educational institutions across Punjab.
The EISS platform was developed following directions from Punjab Home Department, which called for the creation of a centralized database containing security information for schools throughout the province. Punjab Information Technology Board was assigned the responsibility of developing and operationalizing both the mobile application and web portal. Under the new system, educational institutions will be required to log in using their existing or officially designated credentials and submit information related to security arrangements and other mandatory parameters specified by the department. The initiative is intended to standardize the reporting process while providing authorities with a unified digital platform for collecting security related data from schools. The centralized system is expected to improve administrative coordination and make it easier for officials to review information submitted by institutions across different districts.
School administrations have also been instructed to ensure that all information entered into the EISS platform remains accurate, complete, current, and regularly updated. The department emphasized that maintaining updated records is an essential part of the implementation process, enabling authorities to monitor the status of security measures in educational institutions on a continuous basis. The centralized repository will allow officials to review compliance in real time and assess whether prescribed security requirements are being maintained across the province. By replacing fragmented reporting methods with a single digital platform, the department aims to improve visibility into school security arrangements while ensuring that relevant information remains readily accessible to authorized government authorities responsible for monitoring educational institutions.
According to the Punjab School Education Department, the EISS platform will also become an integral component of Punjab five tier monitoring mechanism for educational institutions. Under this framework, Level I monitoring will require schools to conduct self assessments of their security arrangements through the EISS application and web portal. Information collected through the platform will support broader administrative oversight while enabling authorities to use verified data for informed policy development related to the security of educational institutions. The department stated that the centralized monitoring system is expected to strengthen oversight, facilitate consistent compliance with prescribed security measures, and support data driven decision making aimed at improving the overall security management framework for schools across Punjab.
