NIBAF Pakistan Conducts Digital Banking Risk Session For Cyber Risk Officers

NIBAF Pakistan successfully conducted a specialized session titled “Navigating Digital Banking Risk: Tackling Fraud, Cyber and Financial Crime” for officers participating in the Cyber Risk Officers Scheme (CROS-1). The session was held on August 11, 2026, at NIBAF Pakistan Islamabad Campus and focused on key risks emerging across the digital banking environment. The program brought together cyber risk officers for a technical learning session aimed at strengthening their understanding of fraud, cybersecurity threats and financial crime risks affecting modern digital financial platforms.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Rizwan Akram, Chief Risk Officer at easypaisa digital bank. During the technical session, participants were provided with practical strategies for identifying emerging threat vectors that can affect digital banking operations. As financial services continue to rely on digital platforms, organizations face a broad range of risks involving fraud attempts, cyber threats and financial crime. The session addressed these challenges by focusing on approaches that can help officers recognize potential risks and understand the mechanisms required to respond to them effectively. The discussion was particularly relevant to cyber risk professionals responsible for monitoring and managing risks associated with increasingly digital financial services.

A key area covered during the session was the development of robust fraud detection frameworks. Participants were introduced to practical considerations for identifying suspicious activities and strengthening mechanisms designed to detect fraudulent behavior across modern digital platforms. Effective fraud detection remains an important component of digital banking risk management, particularly as financial institutions and digital banking services continue to expand their technology driven operations. The session also emphasized the importance of understanding emerging threat vectors so that cyber risk officers can better assess potential exposure and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.

The program also focused on financial crime risks and the measures that can be adopted to mitigate these threats within digital banking environments. Through the specialized session, CROS-1 officers gained practical insights into addressing the interconnected challenges of fraud, cyber risk and financial crime. The participation of Mr. Rizwan Akram as facilitator provided a banking industry perspective to the technical discussion, allowing participants to engage with issues relevant to the protection of digital financial platforms. The session at NIBAF Pakistan Islamabad Campus reflects the institute’s focus on providing specialized learning opportunities for professionals working in areas related to cyber and financial risk. By concentrating on practical strategies for risk identification, fraud detection and financial crime mitigation, the CROS-1 session addressed several critical areas that are increasingly relevant to the digital banking sector.
