National CERT Pakistan has launched a new initiative aimed at strengthening cybersecurity awareness among children and young learners through its Certified Junior Cyber Defender online course. The program has been introduced to help students develop essential digital safety skills while encouraging responsible internet use from an early age. According to National CERT, the course is designed to provide flexible and self paced learning opportunities, allowing participants to complete training anytime and from any location. The initiative targets individual learners and also encourages schools to integrate the course into digital literacy and online safety programs to strengthen cybersecurity awareness among students in educational environments.
The Certified Junior Cyber Defender course has been developed for children and students between the ages of 7 and 14, offering guidance on how to navigate digital environments safely and responsibly. Through the online learning program, participants will be introduced to practical cybersecurity concepts that focus on safe internet use, personal privacy protection, and digital responsibility. National CERT stated that learners will gain awareness about securing personal information online, creating strong passwords, identifying scams and cyber threats, and understanding how digital footprints can impact online experiences. The course also addresses online safety while using social media platforms and gaming environments, areas increasingly associated with digital exposure among younger internet users. In addition, the training includes lessons designed to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cyberbullying and unsafe online content, reinforcing responsible behavior in digital spaces.
According to National CERT, the initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve cybersecurity awareness and build digital resilience among younger generations. The organization has highlighted the growing importance of equipping students with the knowledge needed to interact with technology confidently while understanding common online risks. Schools have been strongly encouraged to enroll student groups in the program to support collaborative learning and strengthen classroom level cybersecurity awareness activities. By introducing cybersecurity concepts at an early age, educational institutions may also contribute toward developing stronger digital habits and safer online practices among students. National CERT noted that the self paced structure of the program enables participants to progress according to their own schedule, making the training accessible for both individual learners and organized school participation.
Participants who successfully complete the Certified Junior Cyber Defender program will receive an official online certificate issued by National CERT recognizing their achievement. The certification aims to encourage young learners to actively engage with cybersecurity education while promoting safe and informed internet use. National CERT has invited parents, schools, and students to register for the program and participate in efforts to improve digital awareness among children. Registration for the course is currently open through National CERT’s online platform, where applicants can enroll and begin training focused on becoming safer and more responsible digital citizens.
